Smaller Steering Wheel

I can't be the only tall person who would like a smaller steering wheel. Does anyone know of another Mercedes model that will mount in a W123? I'd prefer something without an airbag, which while it won't be connected to anything doesn't really suit my taste.

I had to go to a Nardi wheel to clear my legs comfortably. I can't remember exactly, but I believe it was 2" less in diameter, and made a world of difference. Found it on Ebay for a good price, otherwise, they're expensive.

~6' 4" , 205 lbs.

I couldn't find an MB exchange to drop-in, but maybe someone has.

Grant Wheels make a Mercedes adapter and a variety of diameter wheels. Although purists will cringe; they don't have to deal with making a hand crossover every 30º through a routine turn . You know what I mean.

EDIT: mine's Momo Gritti, NOT Nardi. I knew it was some Italian designer

Adsit has several steering wheel options.

As in everything else that they sell, it's either NOS Mercedes-Benz, top-quality used MB, or high-quality aftermarket pieces like Nardi.

You will likely when looking at the prices.

Of course the prices reflect the quality!

I'm 6'1" and 210 and have no problems getting comfortable behind my (stock) steering wheel. Don't get me wrong - I'd love a nice Nardi wheel, but I have too many "need to do" items to drop $400+ on an "I'd like to do" item.

once u get a hub adapter u can mount a nardi or momo or any of those steering wheels. momo makes some older wooden ones what can be had for pretty cheap.

6'2. Not really bothered by the steering wheel, though I think a smaller on may help the car handle a bit better. I would love to have the wood on the wheel, though.

find an extra W123 wheel.. strip it of the rubber stuff on the weel and fabricate a wood wheel thing that goes in place of the rubber grip..

I just looked up Nardi wheels on Ebay and was shocked at the prices. I bought mine only a few years ago for ~$75 as I recall. It was an impulse buy because the price was low......but still. It's a nice wheel, but not $300 nice.

Perhaps you just need to adjust seat height?

I bought my car used with this Nardi, I absolutely love it!

I really like that Mercedes Emblem on the picture of the Nardi wheel that jbaj007 posted... I wonder if I could find one like that.

Thanks, Im really glad it came with the car because I honestly really do not like the look of the stock steering wheels...

Also, it matched the updated Zebrano wood shifter you can see in the same picture... I really love it.

I have a Grant steering wheel hanging around that came off of a Jeep Cherokee. All you'd need is the adapter kit to fit your benz. It is chemically blackened steel with black leather over-wrap. I'd sell for $40. It has one little scratch on it....did I mention little?

Man I'm glad I can fit comfortable behind the wheel in my car (5'8", 132lbs) because I love the feel of that big steering wheel. It remind me that I'm driving a tank.
