So here's the dealio. Car is an 83 300CD. Cruise did not work when I bought it. I replaced the cruise amp with a used one (Not 100% sure it was good). Cruise amp did not fix it. I pulled another CC servo unit from a 420sel engine I had in stock that was identical to mine. I bolted it on and the cruise works but it surges real bad. So now I have a used CC amp and a used CC servo. I read on here that surging can be caused by a bad amp so I hooked back up my original amp because I knew the original servo was bad and never tried the second servo that works with the original amp. Now with original amp I get nothing at all. I plan on taking the original amp out (which is a PITA to get one screw out of) and take it apart to look and see if something can be resoldered. I already took the replacement amp out that works, but surges, apart and it looks OK to me (Not an electrician I was just looking for burned spots). Is there a chance that my replacement amp is just half good and I need to find another amp and try it or is there something else that could cause the surging? I would'nt think a servo would cause surging. BTW, my servo is electrical only, no vacuum lines run to it. Did I read something somewhere about a sensor or something else in line of the speedo cable that has to do with the cruise? What do you fine experts suggest I do next? Thanks!
