How much do they want for that 116? Someone should recover it.

Not sure about FL, but in CA once a car enters a junkyard the title is changed to a "junk" title and the car can never be road registered again.

I did see a guy cut a convertible 1972 beetle in half and buy both halves. I asked him what he was planning to do with it, and he told me that he was exporting it to the Philippines.

Ugh... meanwhile I've been trying for years to get my junker even close to that nice. You can usually buy a car from a wrecking yard if you offer enough cash and they think you are serious. A lot of them can issue maybe three titles per year if they want to, but there has to be enough money in it for them to be worth the hassle because they can only issue so many titles per year without paying fees to become a dealer. A lot of them just say they won't sell the complete car because it's not worth it to them if someone wants to haggle a lowball price.

I called them twice. Said they don't sell complete cars. But that was the receptionist (nationwide?)toll free#. Maybe they'd do it as you describe if you go there in person.

Interior is nice also:

Remove the wheels and buy them separately. Remove the engine if you have to.

By the time you get to the yard the wheels are gone and it's up on rims.

Post Buying Junkyard Vehicles

So far, LKQ has made it company policy to never sell complete cars once they're in the 'parts' inventory .

Junkyards can sell as many vehicles as they want but so often there are after sale issues, as mentioned most of the goofs who buy junked vehicles then expect some sort of endless service....

This W116 is a shame, I don't like W116's but they're getting very thin on the ground and this appears to be a nice one, worthy of being saved .

I've bought dozens of vehicles from junkyards and never caused any fuss but few are like this .

You should post which LKQ it's at so others can go strip it silly.....

Saw this on craigslist. Hard to find these in ny without so much rust. If anyone is in the NY region, it looks like a good one.

Yes, I've heard the rap on the 350. I've heard that some people love them.
