Compliments

Heh, figured I'd post this.. since it always makes me giddy when I get compliments on my 300D.

I got what I believe to be the HIGHEST of compliments on my 84 Euro 300D, today. Bikers said it was a beautiful car, and asked all sorts of questions about it. Not just any bikers, but grizzled Harley Davidson bikers. Getting compliments are always great, but this just made me swell with pride, for some reason.

Anybody else have great stories, on their diesels compliments? I swear.. I could never drive another car.

A few months ago, I got a thumbs up from a man driving a 1985 300D that was the same exterior color as mine. When we got to a red light, we put our windows down, his comment, "you've got good taste".

The other day, I went to my friend's house to observe his car detailing techniques, he was looking at my car and could not believe that it had 357K miles because it was in such good condition inside and out. He's already a Benz enthusiast, his mom drives a SLK230, he wants to attend a Benz meet, he'll try to come to the next one.

Yep I get them all the time. The kicker that I can't figure out is why my SD draws more then my SDL?? That I can't figure out, the SD's pretty tired.

The downside is that everyone that knows me knows my cars. So I must drive very carefully in the center of town. Especialy with the SDL. Last year when I got pulled over everyone already knew by the time I got to work!

"Grizzled" ???

Grizzled HD owners??

My g/f has a 2005 V-Twin and she isn't grizzled!!
Course she is indifferent to Mercedes.

Only possible point of congruence is HD owners ' specially the grizzled ones like loud pipes (save lives, Bambi gets out of the way)

and diesel owners like the noise and smoke.. exclusivity, MB prestige and economy long lasting

so maybe it's a sensual thing Ears or eyes and nose...?
Oh nevermind

Maybe the bikers were deaf from the HD trademark obscenely loud exhaust pipes and thought you were driving a g@sser.
