A hard rain is gonna fall...
hard as in hail stones the size of golf balls! Sitting at my desk watching my 300TD get hell beat outta it by hail. What a helpless feeling...
i am somewhat comforted by the fact that this car is made of real steel...thickness counts.

Hail is pennies from heaven for me...I work in a big body shop. We're knee-deep in hail-damaged cars and the dollars are rolling in!!!

I continue to be amazed at these cars! I finally got up the guts to walk over and check out the MB. It was covered in broken off oak leaves and that tree sex crap, but it was not noticeably damaged. It took the storm head on, nose first...I knew it couldn't hurt that bumber, but I was worried about the windshield, hood, and roof.
She is back in the shop now.

We had some serious golf ball sized hail a week or two ago, and the outside parts cars all got pelted. The ground was covered and many nearby folks had serious roof damage. One parts car sustained damage to the grille, and another one took some holes in the grill in front of the wipers. Did not see any sheet metal damage at all, and the damaged grille had been badly weathered before the storm. All I can say is, Whew!

If my car had to stay outside during hail like that I'd run out and at least throw a blanket over it or something to shield it Either that or I'd just climb on top of the roof of the car and try to absorb as many of the impacts as I could myself!! (wow...I really have a problem....)

We almost never get hail around here, but if it ever did:
If I were at work its going in the boat shed/paint shed. At home I've got the garage quite often.

04 Buick Rendevous (lease) goes out and my car goes in the garage if that happened here. I loved lease cars, 3 years to use and abuse them then turn em in.

Guys, cars can and will be replaced, your ass can't! IF you are ever in a sever hail storm, forget the car! Take cover, protect yourself and your loved ones. You know in the old days they used to stone people to death, run out into a hail storm, and you'll get stoned. Don't even think about it. Stuff can be fixed, things ain't worth getting killed for...
On the upside, I found 4 dead whitewing doves (air rats, feeder hogs)...got to where I hate those birds. They mess all over your car, then leave before dove season opens.

We're about to get a pounding here in DFW shortly. Has anyone heard of a car cover that has padding in it or something like that to lessen the blow of hailstones?
