i dont know why
went to get the tranny filter kit, big surprise, it wasnt the right one, came home and cleaned the hoses from the alda to theoverboost prot valve, ups showed up with the three fuel filters and pre filters i ordered last week. i cleaned the air filter, changed the pre and fuel filter(done 3 weeks ago). test drive.
everything works as it should, shifts great, goes up to 4800rpm and shifts normal thru all four gears. 0-60 in 15 seconds, 3 consecutive times. i cut the old fuel filter in half, found a sludge in it, dont know where it came from. i still plan a timing chain next month now instead of this week. thanks for all the help, i'm sure i'll need it again sometime.

Three weeks on a fuel filter..........who would have figured??
Well, as I thought, the engine was the culprit. 15 seconds is still too slow for that vehicle. The timing chain may help......... A good time would be just under 12 seconds. Can you kindly tell me exactly where you connected the boost gauge? I find it very interesting that you developed full boost even though the engine was starved for fuel. |

i had a similar problem with my 83 just 3 weeks ago, i'll change the filter on it tonight, it worked thru the problem by itself but acted very similar.
i put the boost gauge right between the alda and the overboost protection valve. a "T" in the line then to the inside of the car now can i take the alda off and adjust it without removing the intake? i'm not sur how far its threaded in or if theres room to get it out. how hard is this task?

from the drivers side, pull the last 3 fuel lines and you just use a pair of small channel locks, and unscrew. the entire cap and nut assy will come off (remove the nut from the cap assy) back off the adj screw and, then use the nut to lock the screw.
