block heater & block head
i am the schmengie who needs to replace his glow plugs. there is a recent missive to that effect here in the last couple of days. in fact, ordered them from phil this morning. $59.02 'for four for' (reads funny) my 240d. the old buggers failed the resistance test miserably. anywho, the purpose of this sillyness. car would not start, naturally. but it did start immediately when i had the block heater plugged in for an hour or so. this kinda suprised me.

GOOD secondary diagnostics
Now you do know the block heater gets temps where they need to be AND you've got good compression as well.

"Schmengie."
I know the word of the day when I see it.

Janko,
Highky unlikely that more than one GP goes bad at a time. I've only see it happen once in 35 years of MB Diesel ownership. How did U do the resistance test? Did U remove the connector from the GP to the GP relay? When U have the old GP out, if they are parallel GP, test them across the battery to see if they glow. Hold each GP in a Vise Grip wrench and connect to the battery terminals. See if they glow. P E H |
