New to this forum - traded for a 1981 380sl
Hi all!
Appropriate time for this post! I traded my 2000 victory sportcruiser motorcyle for a great looking 380sl with 128k miles. I intended to sell it, but my wife loves the car! That said, I am planning on following: Just bot a pair of recently restored 450sl seats to replace existing. (I will be selling my existing ones shortly). New dash cover Two new sun visors Fix the electrical gremlins - lights in dash not working, can't figure out the climate control I will be taking her to a long time family mechanic to give a thorough going over. I got a really nice new teannue cover I'll be interested in reading about other projects. Chris |

1. Take care of the PO's curb rash, get the wheels refinished and take care of pitting due to brake dust. And couple new tires. (within 1 week)
2. Oil Change, with Filter also seems I have micro leak at oil level sensor so I have that O-Ring to replace. (within 1 week) 3. Probably change the air filter while I am at it. 4. Need to address the deeply hidden spot of rust under door rubber. POR-15 hit my doorstep sometime today. (within a month) 5. Fuel lines are original, so I probably should take that plunge too, with a manifold cleanup and resonator flap extravaganza. Glow plugs are less than 1-year old, but should show them the light of day, ream out there little home and slather them up again. (sometime) 6. Not certain if I should have the injectors checked at the same time? 7. Full cleanup for cosmetics and self-esteem. Nice little 8-900 mile road trip coming up next weekend wanna get ready for that!

Oh I forgot to include mine.
Replace the fuel shutoff valve, do a rear diff service etc. All this under the watchful eye of my camera man. These projects will go on DVD in the near future.

Don't want to hijack this thread
The mbz just had a rebuild on the engine.
I don't have the stomach to open her up to look at the single vs double chain. Some of what I've read says that a well maintained 380 may not have the single chain problem. I will be bringing it to the shop in the next couple of weeks. The car came from an estate sale, with incredible service records. Took the car down to Atlantic City a few weeks ago (I live in Jersey City). Drove it HARD. Wife LOVED it...big thumbs up all the way their and back. Thats why my wife wants to keep. After the hard drive, she leaked some green and red fluids. Drove her again mildly, and minimal leaking....something I should be looking for? PS...by keeping the benz, I just bot a 2004 HD custom Sporster. My thinking, the benz was a trade for my toy, so keeping it means I get a new one! I really wanted to trade up to a used "new" ford thunderbird. Love that car! Chris |

Fuel lines
Transmission fluid and filter AC check, only making cooler warm air. Hoping to charge it up and roll. Vacuum check for climate control, to get heat from somewhere other than defrost. Italian Tuneup. Wheeeeeee! And put some miles on it.
