A few guys over at MBworld have the H&R springs on their cars. They swear the ride is fine but I don't know, I'd really like to ride in one. However with the H&R springs the cars look awsome, supposidly they handle a bit better as well.

You could take out the spring and insert a brick and some of them would claim that it rides "OK".

I'd never get the H & R for the W126. Now, if I could find a progressive rate spring that's a bit softer than stock for the first inch..........that would be the ticket.

Thats why I suspect their claims. One guy has H&R's, Bilstein HD, and 18in AMG wheels(with 35 side walls). He swears the car rides nice and smooth, I guess everything is subjective.

I'm seriously considering the H&R 560sel spring kit for my 300sd. The 560 sel uses the same front springs oem as the 300sd, and the 300sdl uses the same rear spring as the 300sd (sdl and 560 have the same length bodyand rear weight) So, appears to me that the 560 kit should be great for the 300sd.

AFAIK, the 300SD uses p/n 116 324 11 04 for the rear spring.

The 300 SDL uses p/n 116 324 08 04 for the rear spring.

The 300 SDL spring has the same rate, however, it's 9.5mm longer.

This is a 560sel with H&R's. Doesn't look like a pimp-mobile to me. It looks straight and proper, and I would love to see it with perfectly restored Bundts.

You must not have read Brians epic spring thread. It's up there in Hunters links.

I can't reconcile this. Our front ends currently look to be at least 2.5" higher than the one in the photo.

Supposedly the H&R lowers the height by 1" or so.

I could be deceived by the size of the tires and wheels, however.

Point of note: The SD with its 215-70-14 tires went over a decent mogul and the tires hit the inside of the fenderwheels. I could hear the sound for a brief moment.

So, I can't fathom how the lowered vehicle could possibly function properly, unless the springs are very stiff.

According to the people who have them H&R seems to drop the car more like 1 3/4 of an in after they settle.

Most of been one heck of a bump, even with my SDL's trunk loaded with camping gear I have never gotten the rear tires to rub.

OK, 1 3/4" makes more sense.

The front tires hit the fenderwells. It was the typical NYC moguls. Big sweeping changes to the pavement by multiple pot hole repairs. 35 mph in a turn is very fast on this crap.

Oh you didn't say it was in NYC! Ok yeah they have some amazing streets. I know a guy who used to live their and kept a car, he said city driving would eat a set of front shocks ever 2-3 years. Now granted this was a Ford.
