Welcome to the forum.

Are you referring to the dowpipe from the exhaust manifold that has a flexible section?

I recently replaced this pipe on the SD. After some detailed research, and a miscue to save money, I finally purchased it from the dealer. It's bent over mandrel and has no reduction in diameter at the bends. There are cheaper options, but, none of them are bent over mandrel AFAIK.

Yes, thats the correct pipe after the Turbo. Also has a flex section to it. Do you have any idea what it costs?

Jgreek, if you go to the top of this page, click on fastlane, then to 1983 mb, then exhaust, then head pipe, you'll have the imfo you want. Also, welcome to the site. steve 83sd

From the dealer, retail is about $180.00. There are dealers that sell for less.

If you go aftermarket, make sure that the pipe is "bent over mandrel". When I attempted this, nobody had any idea what I was referring to, so, the factory pipe was the final solution.

It means its literally bent over a mandrel...a mandrel being a form that is inserted into the pipe before its bent maintaining its original Inside diameter...

Muffler shops do what is called a crush bend which leaves the pipe smaller than before it was bent and causing a restriction.
