yes i can finally post new messages. I just got the 300sd and filled the fuel tank up 2 times. Before if I needed to open the door,I could open it from the outside. Yesterday I got some injector cleaner and was going to dump it in.I could not open the fuel door from the outside. Is there a latch that you need to release from the inside? What do I not understand?thanks

Yes there is a vacuum lock. It's there to keep people from putting crap in your tank or syphoning fuel out. We're not pulling your chain. I always tell people that it keeps jerks from peeing in my tank. I actually have a candid photo of an old man peeing in somebodys fuel tank.

If your doors are unlocked but your fuel cap cover is still locked then you have a vacuum problem. The vacuum on the W126 door lock system is separate from the engine vacuum system. There is a positive and negative pressure pump in the trunk with the spare tire. If it is because of a diaphram failure then you should try other measures of protection . . . no wait, that thought was for something else. If the fuel cover diaphram failed then you can access it via the trunk. First remove the right rear tail light bulb module from within the trunk. Next pull out the right side trunk liner - you will have to bend it down a bit to get it past the top. Once the liner is out of the way you can see the diapham with the approximately 1/8" shaft that slides into a hole in the fuel cap cover. Pull it back. Open door. Fill Tank. Fix vacuum leak.
