Thumbs up AutoZone = Free Oil Filter!

I was up there to pick up some motor oil yesterday and noticed they're giving away free oil filters after rebate. That means you get your $9 back in the mail after a while... scam it around and use a few other addresses (PO Boxes, etc) and you could probably get 3-4 out of them.

Just figured I'd pass it along.

STP brand. I've used them for 10000 miles with no problem. They're a reboxed brand but I forget which, I think "Bobistheoilguy.com" has some info on them. Purolater maybe?

No tax refund and you do have to shell out 37¢ for a stamp

Lots of the inexpensive ones are simply reboxes.

http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_filter_study/

My mistake, they're Champion ones. The O'Reilly ones I use (MicroGuard) are the reboxed Purolater just like the Pimp Boyz "Proline" are Purolater also.

If you've read the threads on here regarding the OE Mann or Mahle ones, you'd think twice about those also due to the crap in the bypass section. As long as you keep the oil changed often with the filter I see no problem at all with the inexpensive brands. Heck, Wal-Marts Supertech brand of oil ranks highest in conventional oils... and it's cheap as can be.
