1992 300d turbo not working
Car got REAL sluggish. Is there a check-out sequence to follow on my 2.5 turbo diesel. Turbo spins when I rev the engine--I took off fresh air hose connected to turbo to see. I don't hear a high speed whine when I race the motor. Where to start? Which vacuum pot is the waste gate? the one on the cool side of the turbo or the one on the hot side? When I race the engine what vacuum pot should activate? This thing is a real slug without the turbo! Thanks in advance.

fixed it
After doing a search, I checked several things. It appears the tube from the intake plenum leading to the alda was plugged up with crud. I cleaned it out and now I have power again. I'm putting out some serious black smoke now! This tube must have been parially clogged for a long time. That tube has a very small hole in it. Easy to get clogged up with all that gunk in the plenum.
