As I get older and fatter ... I have a problem committing to working under the dash on a car that long....
If I was sure that my evaporator was toast... I would construct one in the trunk of the car... plenty of room... just like about a 1957 Buick had... and for the historical record... the company which made those was located within a few miles of where you live.

Your best bet.. take ALL the time and EFFORT required to make sure you have an evaporator problem before making up your mind..
I think someone lately put dye into their system, saw it come out the drain tube...and assumed the evaporator had a hole... it turned out to be the expansion valve connection to the evaporator...

Well looks like we'll just keep it in there. hahaha I figured since it was decently priced I could replace it if the work was a few hours only... guess I was wrong!

I must flush the Evap Core as I had a total system failure, is there a better way versus another to flush it properly?

The methods mentioned above... a funnel to introduce some solvent and then blowing it out are the same my Guru ... Tray at Carlisle Auto Air in San Antonio said they use..
I think the main thing is to keep flushing until what you get out is completely clean....
I like the use of mineral spirits and then the regular commercial flush...
I would not switch to the commercial flush until your mineral spirit fills come out completely clean...
Given what has been said... if you can introduce it and leave it a while I think that is good also... don't be in a rush on any part of the procedure for flushing the evaporator....
