Just ordered one from Sun Valley. They have about a week waiting list before yours would get built. I chose them from great prices and I have heard good things.

$1250 - transmission
$150 shipping
no core charge but core required back
core return shipping included.

I have had success with Precision European in California. Look then up on line. Great warranty. I bought one for a 1985 300CD. transmission has over 120,000 with no problems.

I would do a search on Adsitco before I bought there.

Have a rebuilt from Sun Valley in my 81. Have read where some here have visited the site and were put off by the wrecking yard atmosphere, and the junky appearance. But the rebuilds are holding up well.

I can fully recommend Adsit. I order their transmission and torque converter for a 1991 300D and had a local tranny shop put it in. The local shop told me it was the nicest rebuilt he had ever gotten and wanted their number for any future transmissions he needed for Benz's. The car ran great - the only downside was we totaled it a few months later. By the way it came with a two year unlimitted mile warranty.

I've been to Sun Valley MB dismantlers and was not impressed with the cleanlinest of the shop. Its pretty dirty and I can't understand how on earth they can remanufacture a quality rebuild. A quality trans rebuild requires almost a clean room environment.

If you want a top of the line rebuild contact Transmeister in Orange County CA. Ted only rebuilds MB transmissions and 90% of his work is other SO CA MB mechanics who can't afford a full time trans mechanic. He only uses factory parts for the rebuild AND the trans is shipped out looking like a factory rebuild. He's been rebuilding MB trans for 15 years. He can retro a 4 speed into a 6 speed too!

I've been there, its very very clean and he has a good rep here in SO CA. He is also more money than SV. Get what you pay for. His prices are about 20% to 40% less than a factory rebuild.

I've heard good things about http://parts.mbz.org/ . I thought my transmission was going out a few months ago, so I did some research and came to the conclusion that they were the best choice. But that was before I dumped a can of Transx in my tranny. Now I'm hoping to get a few more years out of my it.

How much would a tranny from Adsit cost?

The price i got was 1610 and that included shipping both ways. It did not include core charges which where 400, but you get that back when you send the trans and torque back.

Thanks, but my trans is totally shot. I can't even move it out of the driveway.

I know, you can't beat the price, and there's no core charge like you said. If you can let me know how you make out with it. I'm not going to do anything untill the end of may. Thanks

Old Deis, like that she bangs, she bangs. I don't know, i mean alot of freinds of mine don't have the cleanest shops and they tend to drink alot, but you can't beat there work and they stand behind everything they do, no excuses.
They make it right, but they don't do transmisions. Thanks for the reply.

Foxden, thanks for the reply, sorry to hear you totaled the car. I put a trans in a nissan maximum about a year ago, and gave it to my son and he totaled that car, know how you feel. I'm going to look into adsit, thanks
