It can get a little tiresome to read the threads just hoping that someone talks about the exact problem you are having. But I have found useful info that I picked up about how to troubleshoot something even though it didn't pertain to my problem. Don't count out the usefulness of the search function just because it didnt solve your problem.

Great thoughts.
I would love to contribute to making this info easier to negotiate...
If we had a sticky page of indexing or links to topics....
How do we start this?

As some have already said - it's a forum, though. What if someone -did- search? Maybe they're not good at key-wording? Maybe their search was fruitful but not enough. Or, in some cases (rare here, but still) something changes.

Like aftermarket parts - lots of forums deal with them. If you search and read 2 years ago's posts about them the comprable information today is proably not worth reading in something like an S10 or Camaro forum. Here - yeah, this stuff hasn't changed much but people find new ways to do things better every day.

It's just text. If you don't like it, remember that replying is optional. If you think someone's question is covered and you feel the urge to reply try:

"I've been here a while and I know some of this has gone on in forum discussion before. I can't think of what you want right now or really don't feel like typing it again because man, it was a lot. Try the search and hopefully you'll get what you need. If not, reply with the results and I will try to help you. Please post whatever the result of your maintenance / swap / alteration ended up as so we can all learn something from it."

This forum's pretty good. I can't tell you how many time's I've seen "Use the search (insert explitive)!" on other sites, tho. Makes beginners / newbs / or possibly a newb-to-internet, but-god-with-mb-diesels feel real nice if they get put off. Can you imagine forever losing the benefit of the latter - because you were insensitive. Again, not pointing fingers - this site's been very good overall.
