Dan,
I talked to Joyce and she told me the sticker they send is not the same as the one you buy from the dealer. The freebee is only a photo copy of the one they sell through the dealer and if you want to put it on the windshield, you will need to tape it on yourself.

If you get a Mercedes windshield, it comes with the decal on it. I just replaced the glass in my MB and I made sure they used OE glass. The decal says "a Daimler Benz product" and has the signature on it. I know the aftermarket brands do not have this (obviously). It costs a bit more, but it is original equipment.

I went to a reputable glass replacement shop; the technician, holding a stack of 100 or so, tossed me twenty.

So, I'm set for life, and he didn't think they cost much; there MUST be a cheap source out there, no?

If I cna find where he got 'em, I'll advise

I have nothing productive to contribute to this thread...but I just wanted to say, that I find it really funny that grown men drivin' cars averaging in price around $50,000 are havin' headaches over a $1.50 sticker :p

I was thinking the very same thing! It is the small things in life that provide the greatest enjoyment! Perhaps this will become a flamer I know I need to replace my sticker - the corner looks "naked" to me now.

I have a 'silent window
sticker alarm' on my 300d.
The decal always works and ya don't
ever know it!

My 98 E430 came from the factory without that unnecessary window sticker. I had planned on removing it anyway. I guess some folk believe it adds some value to the car.

Recently bought a new MB windshield for a 124 coupe and the sticker was in the factory sealed carton. Surpripsed me too.

They tended to put different decals on different models if I remember correctly when I was at the dealer. Even on my own cars, for instance, the '93 300E 2.8 has the "Mercedes-Benz" decal but some S-class cars of the same 'vintage' have the "DB" one. And I'm pretty sure the older 107 SLs didn't come with a decal, or at least mine didn't and I don't recall seeing any 450s or 350s with them on.

Interesting thing is although some of you said the sticker is free, reality is even if you have money you still cannot buy it. I found that out today when I drove to Herb Gordon Mercedes in Silver Springs, MD. The guy in parts dept told me he cannot sell me the sticker if I do not buy the windshield from them, he said it is MB policy. I told him he is flat out lying for a $1.41 sticker because I talked with MBUSA and they told me I can buy it from any dealership. It just proved some of our members were right about Herb Gordon being the worst dealer around here. I got mine after driving back to the dealer (Benson in Annapolis) taht I have been dealing all along. As a matter of fact, they gave me two just to prove a point after I told them what happened to me with Herb Gordon. In addition, they even fixed my trunk light which had been out for a few weeks for free!
