300CD Rubber Trim On Rear Bumper
Someone "bumped" my rear bumper and now the rubber trim is dangling from the sides. I see the row of 'hooks' on the bumper side, two opposing sets, and the slots in the metal bumper. The rubber 'hooks' appear to slide in tracks in the trim. I cant find on the MB maintainence 123 CD's (<- MB inside humor!). Must I remove the large wraparound rubber on the ends? Is it something simple I have overlooked? Rear looks ugly with duct tape holding the rubber in place! And, its been hotter than the hubs of *hell* here for more than a month, so I've not crawled around under the car to look at things. (me being 73 precludes that).

You do not need to remove the left and right rubber surrounds on the bumper. Gently lift the rubber surround away from the bumper and slide the new rub strip in place on both sides.

New rub strip? I do not understand. I have 'movable' 'hooks' that are not hooked, need to slide/move about ¾" towards center, both sides. Whats a rub strip?

The rub strip is the rubber trim that protects the chrome number. The hooks you reference are used to hold the rub strip to the chrome bumper.
