chlorine dioxide gas for odor removal

My '82 300sd was a rolling ashtray. I emptied the car, scrubbed the seats, door panels, roof liner etc. Removed the seats and cleaned the upholstery but still stunk.

I have just released a product called "auto shocker" into the car. It has a chemical reaction with water that releases chlorine dioxide gas. The chlorine dioxide supposedly breaks down odor molecules, including smoke, removing all odors.

Simply ad water to the dry chemical and get out fast! (container and measuring cup provided) Produces a yellow vapor and fills the car with a haze. Leave the car locked and out of direct sunlight.

I started my treatment at sundown. I will let it saturate overnight, probably ventilate the car around noon. Instructions say to give it 12-24h to work and ventilate the car well before re entry. Left the sun visors half down, glove box open, ashtray removed and open to let the gas into the dash console.

will update on the effectiveness of this product tomorrow when it is no longer lethal to enter it.

Question This article was written in July 2010

Who's product was this? Auto Shocker or Auto Vaccine? This was commented in July 2010 and posted now. Strange?

Don't know about the 2010 post. The product was auto shocker. almost a week later the smell of chlorine is almost gone. No trace of cigarette smoke.
