After seemingly endless searching for a good car wash soap, I finally sprung for a bottle of the original BMW Auto Shampoo while waiting for some parts for my 745i at the dealer a while back. Up until then, I made do with Turtle Wax Zip Wax soap but always found that it would lose it's sudsyness half way through the wash process. Anyhow, I tried the BMW stuff and wow! Just a capfull (really!) gets very sudsy and works wonderful. I think BMW also uses Glasurit paint so there shouldn't be any problem using it on a Benz (or anything with a lesser quality paint job for that matter!). It's about $12 a bottle, but it's big and certainly enough for a few summers' worth of washing. If anyone else has used their product, I'd be interested to hear your feedback.

I've had good results with Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo and the Zymol shampoo. Both work great for washing/cleaning well without raping the wax. Both of them will hold suds through washing no problem on a capful or less. They will not do much for the brake dust on the wheels but that is what they have P21S or Meguiar's wheel cleaner for. Though I sometimes rewash the wheels with the normal shampoo after I've hit the wheels with cleaner. This seems to give them a bit better shine for a day or so. In my experience you can't go wrong with the Zymol or the Gold Class Shampoo. Since the Gold Class is easier to find locally I usually use it but between the two its pretty much "heads vs tails" close.

Hope this helps...Lee

PS MB uses Meguiar's as their shampoo, not sure what BMW uses but it should be of top quality as well.
