Question How to replace 107 antenna fender seal?

Checked the threads. How do you replace the antenna seal on a fender of a 107? I'm not even sure how to get to the antenna in the trunk behind the carpet. It has two metal tabs that don't appear to pull out to even get to the antenna. Anyone with help would be greatly appreciated. The antenna is loose in the seal and I don't want water to get in. Thanks.

Tom, I'm not exactly sure how the 560SL's are configured, but on the W124 cars you must remove the trunk liner on the antenna side, remove the nut/bolt that fastens the antenna case to the trunk structural member, then pull the Hirschmann antenna down thru the fender grommet. If it's like my 1991 300CE the plastic grommet is broken and needs to be replaced. The new grommet installs from the outside then push the antenna collar thru the grommet ... both fits are tight and it takes significant force to seat them properly. The 1991 300CE's have a trim piece that slips over the antenna and snaps onto the grommet. Regardless there should be no need to disassemble the antenna, so refrain from doing that. I did that by mistake ... a good learning experience to understand how the antenna operates, but time consuming and not required.

I'm running on memory here because the car's in storage for the winter, but IIRC Fred's got it about right.
Move the trunk liner concealing the antenna out of the way (two pressfit buttons at the front, if memory serves).
Remove the single bolt holding the bottom bracket of the antenna housing in place on the molding to which it attaches.
Remove the bolt holding the ground lead onto the car.
You should be able to remove the antenna from its usual position down into the trunk, pulling it down through the grommet.
Remove the grommet, pulling it outward, and insert a new one from the outside; I seem to recall using a pliers gently from the inside to help get it fully seated.
Reinstall the antenna reversing the above procedure.
Allowing for stupid time and fiddling with the grommet, you still shouldn't need more than maybe fifteen minutes.

It helps to spray the grommet with silicone lube first too.

Tom, sorry I failed to mention unplugging the electrical connector and unscrewing the ground wire. I'm sure that you would realize those two things once you removed the trunk liner and saw the antenna mounting. One more thing ... replace the grommet on a warm day or in a heated garage because the grommet will be more pliable.
