phoenix gold cyclone

Any one used a Phoenix gold "cyclone"? It's a type of servo-drive speaker. Supposed to be equal to three 12" inchers. I have the spec sheet from a Phoenix gold dealer in my area. They cost about $500.00 each. They have only sold one, to a guy that put it in his Jeep. They said it's a pretty awsome speaker. It only needs a 2 to 2.5 cu/ft enclosure. Will handle up to 300 watts and is rated down to 11 hz.

this technology came out in the early-mid 90's and wasn't a big hit. relative to 3 - 12" drivers is kind of confusing, but because it doesn't use a normal motor assembly like a regular speaker, it's supposed to be more efficient and move more air because of it's design. unless you hear it in a car, i'd be carefull of buying it and getting your hopes up high. i'd get some 10" or 12" JL 10 or 12W6 drivers and call it a day to be safe.

do let us know if you are able to demo it, and what kind of amp was driving it.

thx...
