W123 Antenna Drain question?
Hi all, I am installing a replacement power antenna in my '85 W123 Sedan. Previously the car had a parts store fixed mast antenna, which didn't survive a car wash. I've purchased the Hirschmann 2050 antenna, as well as a junkyard OE antenna and mount, and am working on installing the new antenna using the original mount and wiring harness cut off the original OE antenna (the junkyard antenna is heavily corroded and basically junk).
The complication that I've run into is that that the trunk floor well under my antenna location has been replaced with some sheetmetal by a PO - presumably due to a leaking antenna, which means that I don't have the original drain location anymore. I drilled a 3/8" hole a few months ago, since I still need to replace the trunk weatherstrip and am getting a little bit of water in the trunk on occasion. My question is: How should the antenna drain? I'd assume that there should be a hole directly under the antenna with a grommet installed to route the drain tube for the antenna through? Does anyone happen to have pictures of this? Also, does anyone know a part number/source for the original trunk grommets and plugs? I need both side's drain plugs, plus the one under the spare tire if possible. |

Wow. Really? That seems super shifty to me! Was it wrapped around the whole antenna, or just the drain tube on the bottom? My aftermarket one came with ~5/8" drain tube that fits on the bottom

I believe the grommets are available from the MB Classic Center. Contact thomas.hanson@mbusa.com
