In previous posts i indicated i had a problem w/ my '92 500 SL radio. Everthing i read on this site indicated that it was the tuner box so I removed the tuner box after i got instructions on how to remove this unit from the factory stero web site. I sent it Factory Car stero in Flordia. They contacted me & told me the tuner box was fine. I went to the becker web site and started to look around. What i found was. If you are having a problem w/ your radio it,the radio, will tell you. There are " E " codes that will display on your radio. one E1 will display if you are having problems w/ the head unit E2 will display if you are haveing problems with the tuner box. My radio displayed none of these codes. What i found out at the becker site was that my car had a bose bass amp. it was located under the pasenger floor mat. Well, i asked around on this site found out that is where the floor slops up. I pealed back the carpet and found a black panel. i removed the panel and ta da there was the amp. Becker will exchange the amp for 100.00 bucks. Long story short a little research goes a long way. the becker web site and this one are GREAT. I have attached some pictures. one picture show where the tuner box is located and one picture will show where the bose bass amp is located. Here all along i though that my car had a two piece radio system. no so it also has an amp which i was unaware of. I hope this is of some help to any one who is haveing problems w/ their radios.
