Wow, that seems super sketchy to me. I posted a msg on the GC forums for ya to confirm that this is proper.
Edit: Got confirmation that your connection is correct. http://www.greasecar.com/forum_topicview.cfm?frmtopicID=13490

Also, the clamp on the return hose (bottom part of the T) could stand to be be bumped up a bit closer to the end of the hose.

I have the hose, and hoseclamp connection to the pex too, it hasn't given me any problems.

That new pic is much better, I'll take a look-sie in about 10 minutes.

The only real difference to speak of between my system and yours is the way you have situated your looped return, and your lack of sightglasses (MB primary fuel filters)

on the "T" fitting, my looped return is on the odd leg of the tee. That shouldn't make a big difference, but I switched mine to look like yours and it does seem more difficult to get the air out.

The way I made it work is this.
start your engine on diesel and switch to purge mode

open the hood and go around to the front. I notice you may night have enough tubing for this, so you may need to use a longer piece... KINK your fuel line between the TEE and the pex. this forces air to go to your veggie fuel filter instead of the fuel tank.

I don't always do this but it is helpful after changing the filter, and probably when installing a new system... I have the fuel filter with the screw on the bottom. after kinking the line back to the tank, I flip the filter upside down, unscrew that little cap on the underside, and let the purge mode push all of the air out of the bottom of the filter (it's upside down-remember) You will know when all the air is out of it because instead of hissing you will get a squirt of diesel (hopefully not in the eyes) at that time, unkink the fuel line that goes back to your tank, run back and open your tank to listen for air bubbles. if there are no air bubbles, or when the bubbles stop, go switch to WVO.

I personally would recommend swapping your looped return with your vo filter line... that SHOULDN't make a difference, but it seemed harder to get the air out your way.. maybe it's just me

MarkP of GC seems to think that your 5/16 hose is too short. He suggests covering the entire pex section of the supply hose with 5/16. All the way up to where it meets up with the other hoses in the HIH.

Wow-all of this is tremendously helpful-thank you, thank you!

I have some extra fuel line, so I will leave a bit more space before the T and cover as much of the pex as possible. The clamping and purging the fuel filter make a lot of sense-I will try it as soon as I get a chance (might not be until Thursday).

My T was originally plumbed as S.J. described, but in the manual it looked like it should be the way I ran it so I tried the switch. I will put it back. And move the clamp up.

I also picked up a clear-housing fuel filter from NAPA today. That may prove to be enlightening. Where do you think would be the best place to put it at first?

Again, your help is very much appreciated!

mine is immediately before the greasecar filter... That's where I prefer it. It probably saves a little bit of life on my WVO filter and I like to see what kind of gunk I am pushing from my tank..since about 3 weeks ago I dumped about 3 gallons of unfiltered oil into my tank... It had been settled for about 3 months at least..

I really like the idea about the clear tubing though... I might consider switching at least some of my fuel line...

You might want to remove the filter element from that filter if its the same glass purelator one that I have. I've read some threads about those filter elements restricting the flow of VO too much (i.e., the screen is too fine). But now that I think about it, those might have been mounted after the looped return. I would think that keeping it in front of the loop and the filter wouldn't be too much of a problem.

SGT, unfiltered WVO directly into the tank? That's brave! In that case, I'd put six of these filters in line with the filter elements IN!

I had a secret stockpile of WVO back in my bathroom where I used to process the stuff. I left for about 10 weeks, and when I got home I thought everything back there except for 1 bucket was filtered.... well as it turns out it was everything except for 2 buckets

and I'm not having any problems with my filter element.. but mine is the plastic one... Bosch I think.

Finally burned something from the VO tank today!

WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It was the purge method that Sgt. John gave me that did it. I can switch between diesel and VO no problem now.

OK, now to put some filtered grease in the tank and really test it out.

Many, many thanks to all who helped! Hope I can return the favor some day.

Rich
