M/B Design History
--Swiped this post from one of the m-100.cc message board. Neat bit of MB history...
"Hello gentlemen , Paul Bracq has been responsible for the body designs of the W100, W113, W108/109, W114 and many other auto designs for important manufacturers that shall remain nameless. I spoke with monsieur Bracq last night and would like to pass on the URL of his web site. Despite being all in french, it is full of nice pictures and all this provides insight on the man. At age 70, monsieur Bracq has NO intention of retiring since he is obviously driven by passion. The URL is : http://www.bracq-design.com/transports/design_transport.php Au revoir , cheers Denis Paris, France " |

And here's an interesting article that dates Heckflosse design back to 1957..... http://www.heckflosse.nl/dad4.htm
"In the more than 3.000.000 test-kilometers which followed [circa 1958], it was hardly surprising that a number of press photographers recognized the cars for what they were, despite the rather crude attempts to disguise the cars by Mercedes-Benz. " "All the prototypes were painted in a dark green colour, had different rear lights and false circular grilles instead of the well known Mercedes grille.
