dead 280SL 113

1970 280 SL

It all started when....
someone connected the wrong cables to jump start the car.
New Battery, new starter (and solenoid) later... still nothing.
I have power...via interior lights and external lighting, etc. Just nothing at ignition. No cranking whatsoever!
Any ideas of where to look further?

TIA

Auto Trans ??

If so , check Neutral saftey switch under hood..

It is an auto trans....where is the underhood switch located?

Should be on the firewall, near the latch mechanism

Might sound stupid, but I have seen the ground wire to the solenoid bolted onto a threaded part of the solenoid that isn't even an electrical junction. You will not even get a "click" if this happens, even if the dash lights and such come on...

Re: dead 280SL 113

This can be really bad news for electronics.. does the car have any engine electronics? Sorry, this car is 12 years old than me!

Try the vintage mercedes room on this forum if you have no luck right here

Thanks to all who responded and here's the update:
No wthere seem to be no lights or power to the car whatsoever.
I followd the positive lead and have live power at the starter, alternator, ignition switch and light switch.
Still, the car is completely dead.
HELP!

I still say it's ground!

Check the ground wires at each of those locations, not just the hot leads.

There is a ignition wire to the starter solenoid that if improperly connected WILL NOT START THE CAR! And it's a small wire, about 16 gauge. It's easy to hook it up the wrong way.
