w 124 4 brake light mod- where to get parts?
i read the w123 thread (tho pix are gone)
looks ez as pie! where can i get this metal spring clip part? anyone have some spares for $5? ![]() and then the red/black wire is brake correct? ![]() and finally the tail light, autozone dude gave me 5007 5w bulbs (despite that i took the old one w me) and apparently it shld be ten watts, does anyone know the correct number (eg 5007?) from a store like autozone ![]() |

bulb wattage in your picture
Like the autozone dude did give you the wrong bulb. It's a 21 watt bulb as marked on the bulb mount housing, visible in your picture actually.
The 124 cars have an exterior lamp failure warning based on the resistance of the lamp circuits. The 123 cars do not iirc. If you wire two additional 21 watt bulbs into the brake circuit, it may cause the failure indicator to light and stay lit, and it may interfere with the cruise control, which uses the brake light circuit to disconnect it when you step on the brake pedal. Or it may not. Just a heads up, but report back after you do it. Good luck. |

I don't think a bulb goes in there. There is no contact for the center bottom contact on the lamp in that socket.
