Talking A Different (maybe weird) Ice Cream

I just discovered in the freezer, some watermelon chocolate chip ice cream and tried it .

I was surprised to find I like it .

Almost anything tastes good when made into ice cream. I'm not a fan of the goopy flavors with lots of candy. More of a purist-vanilla and choco.

Post Ice Cream

SWMBO buys all manner of odd ball things when she takes the 13 Y.O. Foster boys shopping...

She says " ! no begging !" but buys them crap they beg for they don't even want, they just want to wear her down .

I too am mostly a basic flavor kinda guy although in the late 1970's I liked Rocky Road best for a few years .

She likes praline and sherbet....

The boys like "cake & candy" and other pure sugar flavors, as if ice cream wasn't already more sugar than milk .

Mostly I don't touch the ice cream I find in her freezer .

The only ice cream I eat is home made and that is usually Vanilla. We use Vanilla from Mexico that is completely different from the American products. It gets several eggs in it also. All I do is freeze it, but my wife and daughters have the ingredients down to a fine art.

I don’t mind freezing it, but hate to see the occasion arise because I eat too much of it. We do this for various gatherings of family or friends. For a few of the Grandkids Birthday parties they want a flavor other than Vanilla and it’s usually Butterfingers. It tastes like excrement. I enjoy making it though because I won’t eat a single spoonful, so I don’t gorge.

At various gatherings like the fair, there are people with antique commercial ice cream freezers powered by antique stationary engines. They sell it for incredibly high prices and have a long line awaiting. I considered building such a contraption just for our gatherings but decided that if I did I would end up weighing over 200 pounds very quickly.

BTW Nate maybe that ice cream flavor is sort of like Parmesan cheese, sounds bad, but tastes good.

Post Ice Cream

To each their own taste, I for example think MOXIE is delicious and would drink at least a gallon a day if I but could....

Most folks spit it out and ask me if I gave them Diesel Fuel in a cup....

Mexican Ice Cream is different and is called "Nieve" (snow) in Spanish ~ I love it, mostly I only eat fruit flavors of it, I now longer know any place that sells it so not a problem to me .

Haagen Dazs green tea flavor. Hard to believe, but it’s my favorite. I have to exercise strict, strict moderation with ice cream. It’s probably not that good for you. I’m sure that too much of it is really bad. The stomach doesn’t like being frozen, even a little bit.

Post Tea Flavored Ice Cream

O.K., one more oddity I'll keep an eye out for .

I'm out in the Desert where it reached 108* to - day and I still didn't want any ice cream, I think the sugar and fat content is what made me stop jonesing for it .

Doesn't even taste like tea. It's like vanilla only different. Can't put my finger on it.

Post Weird Ice Cream Flavors

In the 1960's I was very fond of Ginger and peanut flavors, a few years ago I found ginger again and didn't like it at all .

You’re right Nate. It’s all a matter of taste and there’s no accounting for taste.

Yuck! You are a SICK MAN!

There again, there’s no accounting for taste. I’m glad you enjoy it. When in the Army after basic training when I learned it was liver and onions day, I skipped that meal.

Yes, I know this and am reminded how awful it is to not just et but to seek out and ENJOY liver & grilled onions.... .

To each their own, right ? .

At least no one ever asks me '? can I have a bike of that ?' .
