Californian's moving to Tennessee
Our news here is reporting more and more people from Cali. are buying homes here. It's ok to raise kids, the northeast mountains. No gangs, drug abuse low. yep my home with .7 acre, would easliy be over a mil at point fermin.
However people here don't take to out of state folk. Because our NASCAR track everyone here will try and race you, pure dummies. Maybe 4 months nice weather, the rest to cold for me, coming from san pedro. Wages are low, and will make you social security below par. Like me stuck here can never move back to the warmth. Unless I leave for Ecuador. No night life,no titty bars,no dancing. arsehole churches every corner as folks got mad over which family runs the church. So plain boring for children, nearest zoo 120 miles. So think carefully. Rather work in Industry Ca. and commute to Indio. |
Voting With Your Feet
Inter state migration has always been a thing, many do not think it through and get hit hard or stuck where they don't want to be .
It's still very cheap to live in Nevada, New Mexico and many other warmer states but, not much in the way of entertainment nor fire / police and tweakers are every where these days . I like living in town although I pretty much keep to my self as a regular thing . Once you leave California it's very hard to ever move back to think hard before you jump . |

This is great news! I support all Californians willing to move anywhere else. California should cover their moving costs to encourage more people to move out.

Reality Check
Actually no but why deal with truth and facts when you can try to hijack a thread with your ignorant racist crap ? .
The people who leave California are the low wage earners, making it better and easier for the rest who remain . Everyone know you're envious of 'The Golden State', that's why you have a need to lie instead of just taking the federal freebies you in your sad little red states get from us, the richest state in the Union . Typical of mouth breathers and those who don't grasp linear thought processes . |

Sad but true .
Life is very good here and I live in The Ghetto . Those who prefer to live in rusty trailers, go ahead . We'll always pay for your welfare and other needed services . |
We're moving to Knoxville. My job brought us to Floriduh. We're still in our 1500 square foot starter house. We can't find a suitable lot to build our "forever" house. Bubbaville Beach is clogged with tourist traffic March, and May through August. So, we're moving to TN.
My requirements for a state are: 1. Mild climate. 2. No front license plates. 3. No state income taxes or estate taxes. 4. Moderate cost of living (e.g. not California). 5. Low crime. 6. Lax gun laws. I'll trade about a half-dozen snow storms per year for not having hurricanes. Being to the west of the mountains, the winter storms are mild. Ashville, NC on the other side gets hammered. We bought a 0.65 acre lot in the suburbs. It's on a hillside (17 feet of elevation change on the lot), and trapezoidal. Those are normally problems, but they were exactly what I was looking for. We'll have a walk-out basement that could be a separate "servant's quarters," a three-bay garage in the back of the house unseen from the road, and still have a 60' x 75' backyard. I got a bad vibe from the BMW dealership there, and my future neighbor (retired doctor married to a retired judge) confirmed that. But, there's an indy' shop there with a real good reputation, and it's owned by a former BMW NA instructor at their technician school in Spartanburg. Knoxville is right in between VIR, Barber, and Road Atlanta. My drug of choice lately has been BMW and Porsche driving schools. Porsche's at Barber. BMW's advanced schools were at VIR and Road Atlanta. But, taking the shows on the road was causing them problems. So, the advanced schools are only in Thermal, CA now. |
Flying around on Google Maps, I found a vacant lot in Kingsport. It was small, but in a well established neighborhood. I have a set of house plans (2900 square feet, two-car garage but with a lift for the 3rd car) that would have fit on a 0.15 acre lot down here. The Kingsport lot was literally walking distance from the BMW-Porsche dealership there. But, Frau Putzer put the kabash on moving to Kingsport... too small of a town.
The plans for the Knoxville house suffers from mission creep, now pushing 4000 square feet. The minimum for the 'hood is 3200 square feet, and 400 square feet of the 4000 square feet are basement stairs/basement foyer and 30-foot hallway and foyer to the garage. So, that 2900 square foot house is still in the back of my mind. Once we get settled up there, I'll be prowling for a small lot in a really nice area. |
