Using Mercedes parts to fix other things.
I picked up a used snow blower for cheap from my fiances neighbor who was in no way exacting when it came to repairs..... At some point in the past the mount for the shoot control arm broke and the gentleman "fixed it" by electrical taping a hook bolt to the arm and letting the arm hang loose in the loop. I found this to be completely unsatisfactory and I couldn't tighten a nut to the hook because it was bent.
![]() So I went rummaging in the parts bins to see what I could find to sleeve the bolt so I could at least tighten a nut on the last few good threads. Thankfully earlier in the summer I had not thrown away what was left of my serpentine belt pulley. ![]() The center of the pulley fit perfectly around the hook bolt but it was still too short. Knowing that this fit I found a 2nd spare pulley that I had and found that it was a perfect fit ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The last step was to put a rubber "ring" into the hook so that the arm would spin around smoothly. Since then the arm has spun as it's supposed to without flopping around like a flag in the wind. I've used other random nuts and washers on other projects as well but does anyone else have use Benz parts where they don't belong? ![]()

Whole engines (esp. diesel) have been transplanted in other vehicles.
The mechanic who did my Isuzu I6 5.9 implant drove an old '60s something Chevy 1/2 ton with a 240D MB engine in it. ![]()

I have seen a worn out 6.3 block used as a wine rack.

I recently converted a used Mercedes manual valve-adjuster to a flywheel-puller for a 1977 50cc Sachs moped.
Happy Motoring, Mark

When my Uncles built the sawmill at the farm, they used W115 wiper motors and transmissions to power the adjustments. Power to the saw blade used a hydraulic motor hooked up to one of the tractors.
The motors were readily available, there were multiple W114/W115 wrecks in the hollow serving as parts cars for the ambulatory ones. Jim

I've used spare MB bolts and clamps, wire... and such to fix other things.

A good part of my 440cc bike's wiring harness came from my w213's colorful climate control harness.
I've got a w123 shift knob waiting to go on my DD (low priority)
