1992 500sl Car dies after 50 mins, while in park for 2-5mins
Test Scenario:
1. Start engine, leave in park for about 50-60 mins. 2. After 50-60 mins with emergency break on, apply break, shift to drive and wait. “OBSERVATION: After above steps, the engine seems to “struggle” to run. RPM is just over 500RPM, oil pressure fluctuates below 1 bar, And vibrates the car.” 3. Within about 5 mins the engine will die/stall. 4. Engine will restart properly. 5. Reperform step immediately and the engine will die/stall again, and often 3-4 times. @EPR Test: Saturday July 23 1:10 pm: Start engine and let idle in park. 2:00 pm: with emergency break on, apply break, shift to drive and wait. Test 1: Time to die/stall: 1 Min 35 Sec Immediately restart engine, with emergency break on, apply break, shift to drive and wait. Test 2: Time to die/stall: 2 Min 43 Sec Immediately restart engine, with emergency break on, apply break, shift to drive and wait. Test 3: Time to die/stall: 0 Min 50 Sec Immediately restart engine, with emergency break on, apply break, shift to drive and wait. Test 4: Time to die/stall: 4 Min 0 Sec Parts replaced: QTY Replaced: 1 OVP Relay 2 Distributor Caps and Rotors & dust shields 1 Ignition Wires 8 Spark Plugs 2 Engine Mounts 1 Transmission Mount |
