1983 380SEL really clean

Located in Hamilton Ohio.
Miles documented to 108k. The odometer quit about a month after I got the car. I have made 3 trips to Mississippi, about 1600 miles each trip. Other than that I have probably driven it 500 miles. I got the car in a trade July 09. It sat in a heated shop most of the time since then.

The seats have new leather and stuffing. I think most of the chrome is new as well as the plastic around the lights etc. No water stains on the headliner, no rust in corners of the trunk and there is no bondo on this car. Paint looks new. I hesitate to say it is rust free but it may be as close as I have ever seen for a used car.

The AC worked great till the compressor went out just before the end of last summer. I installed a new compressor, dryer, and expansion valve. I thoroughlly flushed the system and filled the system with r12. I believe I did not get the top lines on the expansion valve tight, I don't have the necessary crows foot socket, because over the winter some of the freon leaked out.



Some minor items:

• The central lock system works sometimes and sometimes not.
• The driver side seat control is about gone. Will go forward, and reverse, seat back will tilt but the seat bottom tilt does not work
• Will need fromt tires soon. Has a little shake and the tires are worn to properly balance
• Small power steering leak
• Will need radius arm bushing on driver side soon. I replaced the passenger side. Not bad but I can hear it occasionally.
• Antenna does not go up and down
  The wood on the dash will need to be redone. There is a piece missing to the right of the glove box.

The car runs great. Can't tell it's running when sitting at a traffic light. On my trips to MS I averaged about 19mpg.

10 years from now I will probably wish I had the car back, but I can't afford to just have it sitting around till I retire. It takes up too much room in my shop and it bothers me to let it sit outside. I'm not going to use this car for a work car because it is too nice for the kind of driving I have to do. Over the years I have owned 5 other Mercedes cars and I naver had one close to being as nice as this one.
