Seat cover source?
...can anyone suggest a place to look for "budget" seat covers to fit the front seats of a W123 sedan? Thanks
|
ME TOO!!
You took the words right out of my mouth!! I need front and rear for my wagen... the dog is too crazy on that back seat! Thanks, Pete |
My local Sam's Club has 100% sheepskin seat covers for $29 each. They look as if they would fit perfectly.
You can always return them if they're not to your fancy! |
Hi Jim.
Try this place: http://www.worlduph.com/default.html I don't know about economical, because seat covers aren't cheap. Louis. |
I bought a front and rear set from them for my 450SEL about 10 yrs ago in MB tex. The covers were very nice and fit well. As I recall, the price back then was around $650 or so. Leather was about 2x of the tex at that time.
From time to time, I see them posting covers on ebay for porsche seats. You might try to keep an eye out for them there. |
least expensive that I've found, so far: http://www.4basic.com/mbkits.html

I made a set ifor the front of my 280 in cheapo vinyl from the remainer rack at the local fabric store. Totat cost (minus my time) was something like $60. I'm about half way through leather ones from the front seat.
I've not started on the rear seat yet, this winter, perhaps. Peter |
I need seat cover an a carpet for my wife's 300D. I thought of World Upholstery at first- they have a very complete selection of upholstery- but I've had a bad experience with them.
This is partially my fault because I procrastinated so long , but, a year ago when I bought this car and didn't know so much, I bought the headliner from them because ours was ripped. They sent me an old-style perforated headliner for an early 123. Ours is a late 123 and has the pinpont embossed style. When I went back to them quite a bit later and explained the difference, that I still had it in the box, wanted the right one and I was looking to buy over $1000 in new stuff they told me "go sell it on ebay". They didn't believe that there could possibly be another type of headliner and that I must be crazy or something to be wanting the correct item. And they spent as much time on the phone with them as if I were ordering a pizza. So someone else will be getting my business on covers and carpets. I will likely buy from Rusty at MBZ.org as he can get OEM items like this and his prices are reasonable. Rick |
Jim,
Have you looked in a JC Whitney catalog ? I think you should be able to get a front seat re-upholstery set for about $200.00 from them. Certainly won't be "top shelf" quality, but may be good enough for a daily driver. |
I would have to agree with Rick about World Upholstery. Ordered all new leather and pads for my 116 from them about a year or so ago and had some problems with delivery, then the armrest cover was not welted, rear seat back didn't fit right (and I was using an upholsterer, not DYI). They were short on the phone and when I called to complain about the guy, I found out he was the owner's son-in-law. Needless to say, I ended up being the BAD guy. The covers themselves are good quality and look great, other than the slightly offcenter rear back, but only I notice it. I still would find somewhere else to shop if I ever needed anything else, just because they were such a$$es to deal with.....:p
