Biggest hurdle is the fuel tank relocation, or have a split bed.with the tank in the middle. Rear bulkhead or soft top type thing you can open? A Nissan d21 pickup cap would fit length and width. Starting with a sdl would be better too..maybe down the line. A w108 would be way cooler too. I found my rust free wagon to build instead. I love my personal pick a part..only thing missing was a good shell.

I got to take a look at a w123 wagon that was converted into an ute.

They did a decent job, and the wagon fuel tank/SLS setup was great.

Body was rusting out BADLY however, so it was a pass for me.

Advantage to converting a wagon is the tank is already under the rear floor. Sedans have above the rear axle. I may still do the Ute conversion and keep it for certain situations. I have a small utility trailer so a wagon does most of my duty's.
