I'm glad you caught it before it went! I put clear zip ties on mine, and will maybe use the spring clips. It sure is nice to be able to see the fuel, I wonder if there is a polymer with a little better properties for our purposes.

What is the Viton like I wonder?

I stuck the Tygon line in the toolbox. If I have issues again I'll swap back for diagnostic purposes, for now I'm just going to run stock hose and be happy my beast goes down the road again.

Time to upgrade fuel filters and delete the in-tank pump and surge tank, put the radio in the dash instead of the rear floorboard, choose + install a muffler and bigger exhaust pipe, look into installing AC, put on a trailer hitch, paint it all one color, build a headache rack, get an alignment, turn up the pump a little bit now that it's settling down, etc etc etc etc etc never ending project.

As you mentioned, my Tygon fuel return line started leaking. I stuck the stock braided MBZ line back on there before it had a chance to blow.
What wall thickness tygon were you running?

I'm a tygon fan, but some people like nylon variations (perfectly good plastic as well)

There's an EGT gauge setup going cheap on superturbo right now if you don't have one yet. Absolutely necessary for turning up the pump

Whatever the small engine shops carry. My fuel line has "OREGON" printed on the side.

I'm good to go on the EGT gauge, installed one before I put the engine in the truck. I would probably only turn up and/or remove the ALDA, and leave max fueling alone.

If anyone wants to meet up, I'll be at the Great Oregon Steam Up this weekend. All day Saturday for sure, and in the mornings at the very least for the rest of the steam-up. If you're interested in older machinery of all kinds, you'll be in for one heck of a treat. Most of it will be operating and driving around.

Steam-Up

I put on OM617 in my Jeep, replaced the clear fuel lines with new from the MB dealership. 300 miles later, one broke and sprayed everywhere. Fixed it, 400 miles later, a different on broke. After this happened for the 3rd and 4th times. I gave up on the crap clear lines and just put in black fuel hose with clamps at each connection. 5,000 miles later, not a DROP of fuel has spilled.

Well, looks like the bulk fuel line I bought isn't liking diesel so much, or maybe it's Oregon's B5 mandate. Either way, the lines are leaking and not holding tension when I hose clamp them. A week later they're loose again and leaking fuel out and air in.

Off to read about other options, hopefully something clear.

Well, if nothing else works for you the Gates Barricade is impervious to nearly all ($$$); though I've had luck with the clamped viton, they do get soft... (but clear is nice.)

Hose must be SAE R7. R5 will melt

Your clear hose from injector return to filter T is in the wrong place to look for bubbles.

Thank you sir for the tip. At the moment I'm running stock cloth-covered lines, and was judging air in the lines by pinging/knocking noises upon startup and fuel leaks.

When I went to NAPA and said I needed fuel line that would stand up to our B5 mandated diesel and maybe the occasional tank of B99, Gates Barricade is what the counter dude brought out. Clear would be nice but functional and effective and available RIGHT NOW trumps that.

Yeah, that's what I ran from the tank (& return), and in my set up the tank is in the spare tire spot between the frame rails, it's a long run. I figured do it once, and also since I like to add the occasional ATF to the fuel, I would rather not worry about blowing out a line out in the field!
