Has anyone used Power Service Clear Diesel?
I used Power Service Clear Diesel to clean my tank and fuel level sending unit. The result was a smooth fuel needle. the reserve light started working, and the engine ran smoother. The next tank I ran the SeaFoam through the tank resulting in a rougher running engine and the reserve light flickered. Three weeks later I ran Clear Diesel through the tank again, the reserve light is steady when it comes on, and the engine runs more smoothly. I know this is a very limited sample, but wonder what results others have had with Clear Diesel.

We have Power Service 911 (red bottle), Cetane Booster + Antigel (white bottle), and Normal Lubricity increaser/cetane booster (gray bottle) I use the stuff in the gray bottle....don't need anti-gel. Its not going to reach -21F or less here. Last winter's coldest of all days was -12F, and I still got my car started. :D And it was only 1 day that cold. A few more below 0, but not -12.

While I'm quite familiar with the PS product line, I've never heard of or seen this juice. I hope it's safe for a mobile environment... Quote:

I'll keep my eye out for it, I'd like to give it a try, though I may just pull my sender and clean it out....maybe this weekend! :D

I've used Power Service for decades in winter use, in our family's diesel MBs and trucks.

that's why you have two filters. change/clean them as the collect gunk!

Just had a hiccup under load on my wagon that I cured with highway driving and a dose of the gray bottle stuff. Nothing serious, I was starting to diagnose it, and it went away.
I throw a bottle in every once in a while, seems costly to do it regularly. Don't have much of a problem with gelling or water or biobugs. Of course, now that I said that....:knife: |

I have the white anti-gel for colder weather, but have not had to use it since last January... |
I tried the Gray bottle of PS this weekin my 82 300SD. It did make a difference in performance and I believe it increased milage 320 miles and shows 1/4 tank left. The only thing I would worry about cleaning the tank is that if it breaks stuff loose in the tank it may plug up the sock on the fuel pickup. I started having problems a couple of weeks ago. After driving a while I loose power during accelleration. It runs decent at speed on flat land. It runs fine when you first start out. I picked up filters last night and am getting ready to change them. I'm not confident that this will work, and have resigned to the fact that I will be pulling the tank this week, after I run the fuel level down.

Your driving experience does sound like clogged filters. Change the filters and see whether that makes a difference. Before you pull the tank (unless you feel adventurous:knife:) I would check your tank filter screen. You have to get most of the fuel out (I have a 123, not sure where exactly yours is) so you don't have an Exxon Valdez.
Pull the screen and see whether there is anything to see. If not, leave the tank alone. I had such a bad problem that I couldn't maintain highway speeds for long. Nothing at the tank though. Replaced both filters and problem went away. I am guessing a bad tank of fuel. Your filters should be able to resolve tank issues unless you know about some major problem in the tank. |
Is the Lucas fuel treatment any good? I have a bottle of it in my trunk but don't use it much, preferring Power Service Diesel Clean instead.
