Yikes!! What was holding my 190D Engine in place?

Hi All,

The adventure continues with my recently acquired 1987 190D 2.5 (non-turbo).

When I first got her I noticed that the bolt on the right motor mount was just sitting there and that she was not seated properly on that mount. I thus ordered two new mounts and was planning on replacement today.

I removed the air cleaner and got quite the shock when I realized that the left motor mount is in even worse shape. The aluminum bracket which sits between engine and motor mount has broken. Thus, neither of the mounts is serving their purpose.

Anyway, I now need a replacement left-side bracket. I posted a WTB to the forum classifieds, please let me know if you have a spare.

While no symptoms were evident while driving, she will remain parked until I get this fixed. Engine is now a good bit forward of where she should be. I only hope I can get her back into position without an engine hoist?

I suppose that every used car has its surprises but dang!!

The right engine mount bolt in my TD fell out a long time ago. On left turns it made a sound like a really bad ball joint.

How was the mount when you took your avatar pic?
