Wagon for sale

Maybe someone here can get this poor pathetic old wagon to run right.
Just kidding, lots of new parts but somethings amiss.

Story makes no sense.
Who puts all that effort and $$$ into an MB and then gives up one day because a mechanic leaves the country???
Something is stinky in Virginia....!

I am currently going through an "I hate my wagon" phase that seems to be all too common. Broken AC, a rebuilt frontend that pulls and makes noises, a whole side of the car that is sanded for repaint after door and fender repair. It just never ends!
BUT, it does NOT smoke, and runs like a scalded arse ape, so things could be worse.........

That is a nice looking wagon for sure. Should bring some cash. Mine may end up there one day...

If you frequent people and garages of not enough skill results as his are possible. Unfortunatly quite easily in my opinion. Too bad he did not view our site as this is one type of senario we do not want to occur with any member. Just loved the replacement of the pump for about 3800 total and car is not as good as with old pump. Wonder if his mechanic suggested the replacement and did not even mention just sending it out for a quick check. Appears he got it in all ways. Wonder what it will go for. The true completion of the repair should be quite simple with the exception of a possible valve job required. At what he has been paying on average I would not want that bill. But the replacement pump may have to be checked. Two thousand two hundred for a reconditioned pump? Sixteen fifty for labour? It's been an almost continious nightmare for that guy. I can relate to his wanting it gone.

I think that the pump story may not be the whole truth as he knows it. He makes it sound as though it's a known problem that only requires expertize to make right and in doing so he also makes it clear that HE doesn't know for sure WHAT is wrong.

Good salesmanship.

So buy the car and find that the block is cracked (or whatever) and the engine needs replacement. Do you have recourse from him? No, because he tried within his admittedly limited knowledge to describe a problem as best he could but can now say that it isn't his fault if he had bad original information from the long gone and mythical mechanic in Europe. He's only relying on what he was told, after all.

And you lose.

Everybody and his brother is putting wagons in ebay these days. There's even one with a buy it now of $18,500 (how far will they go?). Pretty pictures, a longwinded script, and the help of several shill bidding friends make a gold mine for sellers when the public gets it into their head that some thing is desireable.

I call it the beany baby syndrome.

$12,050 with 42 bids. The BEST loking 300D I have seen to date.

There are no support clips on the injector lines. Wonder what else they forgot to put back.

Off topic, but what percentage of this shill betting goes on in these ebay car auctions? I'm looking at that wagon too, but 18,500 is nuts.

Pay no attention to the buy it now price. That seller is Herbert Phillips.......a member here........and probably the best seller in the country in terms of showmanship. Trust me........his reserve on that wagon is far less than the $18,500. The high number gets you thinking that the vehicle is gold plated.............

That appears as close to "off the showroom floor" as you can find these days.
I'm on dialup, and I waited for ALL the pics....

Translated, that means "Best seller in the country at piling on the fluff".

One of the best tips for driving away potential customers is background music. It just annoys the hell out of people.
