Import Motors on Telegraph and 40th in Berkeley is pretty good. They aren't cheap ($80 or $90 per hour), but they know what they are doing, and I've never been surprised with a repair bill that was any higher than their estimate. Infact, last time I was there (for replacing rear suspension accumulators in my 560SEL) came in around $450 ($100 less than the estimate). Hope this helps.
