The only potential problem you may encounter comes from the large number of variations that exist with Bosch distributors. The Pertronix will work with many Bosch, but, I ran afoul of the Bosch system with my 230/8. Pertronix felt the unit for the 230S would be the correct item, but my distributor uses a special shaft and base for the points that caused a fit problem with rotor and magnetic ring. Once the ring was placed low enough to allow the rotor to clear the cap the magnetic ring did not align precisely (this is critical) with the pick up, and as a result the car would not start. After several calls to Pertronix and them sending what they felt was the proper part to make the match (did not work), I gave up and switched back to the original points. To their credit, Pertronix guarantees a working system if you will send them your distributor. I chose to not do this.

FYI I have used the Pertronix I on several other cars and believe it to be the best single improvement item I have ever used. In this case I made a decision to keep my old 230/8 100% original even if it requires more ignition maintenance over the long run.

Also FYI, the Pertronix I is excellent, the Pertronix II is an advancement that enhances dwell and coil saturation but this is IMO an improvement that a stock engine would seldom need. Given the choice, I would take the P-I and save the $$... FWIT.
