From the perspective of the level of electrical amenities, the average late-model pickup truck would shame a fully-loaded Cadillac from a few decades ago. Couple that complexity with emission control systems, ECMs, PCMs, ABS, etc., and it's a miracle that the average late-model vehicle doesn't instantly burst into flames when the battery is hooked up.
