Just a quick update. I got the injectors back from Greazzer and got them installed.
Things learned:
I goofed a bit, apparently I didn't get the mating surfaces for the injector and heat shield 100% clean. A couple injectors are leaking combustion gasses through the threads where they screw into the head, can be seen as bubbles in the fuel that dripped down during the injector bleeding process. Will have to buy more heat shields and redo this.
She runs smoother and more regularly than she ever has before. I was amazed when I cranked her up. My injector nailing from before is gone as well as some vibration while under way. I didn't dare wind her out during my test, but am looking forward to doing so once I get the timing set and the above leaks fixed.
My timing is definitely off. Gray smoke at idle, still significant black smoke when under heavy throttle. Saw a post on here where someone said timing should be set to the END of the fuel pulse out of the injection pump, instead of the beginning. If so, this could be my problem. I had set timing to the beginning of the fuel pulse from the IP. I'm sure timing was significantly changed by my old weak injectors popping at lower pressures and advancing the timing.
Lastly, the flat bed is done. I'll get pics when I get a chance and get them posted.
Thank you again to Greazzer for the amazing work.
