Thanks for the answers. The engine was running at 75mph on the freeway when the oil pump chain snapped. A number of rod bearings were spun due to lack of oil. I am in the process of slowly fixing it. The pitting in general is acceptable but there is one place which is too close for comfort to the cylinder rim. I am doing some research as to how to fix it. Any ideas is welcome.
I probably would just put it back together and hope for the best.
