You are the only person besides Myself who has done that Mod. In Sep 2009 I finally installed the real CAT Filter to replce the WIX on I used to get the projecto going. I hanve not changed the CAT Filter since that time (I keep an extra in the trunk).

Also if you were stuck on the Road somewhere due to a plugged Filter you can remove the threaded Adapter and install a normal Mercedes type Filter if no CAT Filter was available.

On the VW TDIs the CAT Filter it is a popular Filter Mod with a $28 Dollar Filter Head that uses the stoc Banjo Fittings.

Here is the thread:
Lower Micron Fuel Filter Mod
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/225004-lower-micron-fuel-filter-mod.html

In the thread there is 2 types of Filter Mods. On the Baldwin Filter Mod if for some reason you could not get a hold of the Baldwin Filter the Old VW Rabbit or Old Volvo Diesel Fuel Filters form the 1980s will fit; alghough the VW Filter has the same 10 Nominal Micron filtration as the stock Mercedes Filter has it is larger and has a drain.
