No seriously. Good motor mounts should feel somewhat like tire rubber. If you can push your finger into it like a wet sponge I'd consider them gone.

But as the above posters have mentioned, knowing the relative distances between parts of the engine and the body will tell you. Certain things touching that shouldn't be touching...
