Just for your info....most of the Hammers were 124 Coupe's......29 Hammers were made of which 5 or 6 were sedans the rest were Coupe's, most of which were sold in the US.
Many thanks for all of your comments by the way....much appreciated.
Somebody, mentioned parts availability....sure, its true that if you wreck a head then its going to be all but imposible to find a replacement head, but the upside is that the heads are very strong and that you can get all of the replacement moving parts or have them made up for you by an engineering shop....I had to have all of the timing gears for one head made and all of the valve's were also replaced, along with oil seals etc etc. I also had to have a new engine block fitted as that was what took my car off the road in the first place (long story and before I owned the car, but effectively the engine was wrecked by a mechanic over torquing the heli-coils that held one of the heads to the block....fractured the back of the block but the head was fine....I bought the car with the engine in pieces and out of the car) Thankfully as my Hammer is an early version using the 5.0 Quad Cam I was able to use a stock M117 5.0 block as a replacement.
