Injector Pumps interchange? 190d to 200d?
I bought a 1962 190d yesterday that has not run in years. The guy's mechanic had decided, with no good reason i could ascertain, that the car needed an injection pump, and the guy gave me a lead on where to get one. Today I was working on the car, putting the fuel lines all back in place and charging the battery and realized from looking at the tag on the engine that the engine is a 200D engine. Now I am wondering if the '62 190d pump that I found will work with this 200 D engine. any advice? It looks like the pump that is on there was factory rebuilt at some point in the past by the tags on the fuel lines, so I'm thinking the pump may be OK.
By the way, the mechanic seemed unfamiliar with diesel engines and I'm now thinking that it is glow plug issues that keep it from starting. I couldn't raise the slightest glow or warmth from the glow plug indicator in almost a minute of holding the switch out.
Also, the guy had the lines off of two injectors, and when looking into the little hole in the tops of the injectors, one of them is just a hole, the other one seems to have some kind of tiny triangluar plate of some kind just inside the top of the injector. What's up with that?
Thanks!
