Oil change experience in a fast lube places

I thought this may be an interesting thread. My experiennce at one of this places was rather interesting.
Took my 280SE for an oil change. I usually watch what they do and bring my oil filter since they never have them. I went inside for a minute when I came back the tech said we are done. I asked what did you replace he said the oil filter as you requested. I asked where the filter was and points at the fuel filter!!!! Had to show them where ther oil filter was and an hour later then it was done. So much for a fast lube place.

No offense intended, but why in the world would you have your oil changed there? I understand if you can't do it yourself for some reason, but going to a quick lube? The employees at those places make the Home Depot help look like a team of rocket scientists.

Be sure you have the spacers 42, 43 and 44 as shown in the diagram. Without them, your filter is just along for the ride and not filtering anything.

The p/n's for rubber filter elements are:
#42 is 000 184 1780.
#43 is 000 184 3280
#44 is 000 184 3380

yea fast lubes are a crap shoot , however I have a friend that works in one who can take out and put an engine in a car blind folded, oil and filters are nothing to him and knows what torgue means , rare to find in most fast lube places. Lots of tragic stories..

I might be able to take out and put in an engine while my car is blindfolded too, but I have no idea what torgue means.

However, I did stay at a Holiday Inn, so I know how to change my own oil.

I do all of my routine maintenance now but ......

When I had a W115 300D, I had Grease Monkey do my oil changes. I just got tired of laying on my back with hot filthy diesel oil running down my arm and across my chest while changing the filter.

My W123 and W211 of course can be changed from the top while suctioning the oil. I just may carpet my garage with white shag.

torgue,tork, tomatoe ,tamato potatoe, patato all the same to me, perhaps too much time under a car, not sure I understand either

So he lied and said he did the work but did nothing? I would write a letter to the corporate headquarters.

I had to educate my local guys about the wonders of the 123 240D.

I had to show them how to replace the oil filter, and I had to advise them that it would take seven quarts of oil.

The trick they liked the best was when I showed them how to make the hood open to 90 degrees. They all thought it was worth the extra few seconds of work to get the easier engine access.

These items are for which cars?
I have a W116 450SEL 4.5 that I just bought ... do I need to get these parts?
I got the Mann filter kit, but it doesnt show any of these.

Like 3 years ago...I needed my oil changed asap in my dodge dart....the only place open at that time was pep boys....I had to go out side and show the guy how to open my hood....he was searching all over the inside of the car, tug and twisting every nob trying to find the hood release....watched him for like 45min....then I thought it was time to show him, the mechanical wonder lol

This filtering system was in 108/109/111/113's, to my knowledge.

OP has a 108.

I also have a W108 4.5..

This items dont come with the filter kit, right?
