Looking for ideas: building another LeMons car from a 1973 280C

Hi all,
I'm new to this section but have been active on the forum for a few years now. I came here to hopefully gain some knowledge for an upcoming project.

Our LeMons team is looking to expand and want to build a second car- of course this one would have to be a Mercedes since our first one was a 94 Volvo 850 5-speed Wagon and we are all MB club guys. A teammate has a 1966 250 euro with a 4 speed and a 1973 280C. To start with, we'd like to use the 4 speed from the 66 and mate it to the 110 in the 280 since both cars are the same chassis. Anyone have any knowledge on this?

Any info on engine tweaks, suspension, brake swaps etc would be appreciated.

Our group page here on the first effort, the ReVolvo is here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/group.php?gid=115747175114329&ref=ts

I have a 72 280CE with a 4 speed. It's fuel injected so it makes about 185hp and the 4 speed makes it quite nippy. If you want to go with a more modern engine from a 300E, I have a 5 speed setup that will mate up with the M102 and M103 engines. I wanted to install it in my 280CE but the tranny will not work the m110 motor.

Kick ass John! BTW, how are the bumpers and steering wheel on the '73 280C? I'd be happy to help fund the effort and help out my car's aesthetics as well :)

PM me if you want to talk.

Also, not sure if you saw the BGruppe thread, but here's some W114 inspiration, a rally car from europe:

its coming along, I think getting detailed for starfest currently, Bill has it right now and just did the starter and replaced a bunch of gaskets and hoses around the intake that were leaking. I scored a sportline interior at crazy rays and put that in as well since our seats were split and falling apart inside.

If anyone wants to follow along, we settled on a 190E 2.3

Cool stuff, what ever came of that '73 280C? If for some reason I can't sell my '74, I'd be interested in the bumpers/steering wheel/tail lights...if they are nice. Looking to backdate if I keep it.

We Lemons race a 1986 w124 with a 5-speed; lots of interchangable parts bw a 201 and 124. The best thing we ever did was put an LSD in the rear; second best are the 500E swaybars; lastly is the dogleg transmission out of a 16v. The car is a lot faster than stock simply from the gearing changes. As a matter of fact, we're racing this weekend!

Benzgay?

5-speed swap this weekend, still on the hunt for a 3.91 rear, have 500E bars, 500SL springs, converting to ABS, etc etc etc :)
